Before and during a date

Simple habits that keep meeting someone new relaxed.

  • Be kind, be real

Use recent photos of yourself and treat people the way you’d like to be treated.

  • Take your time

Keep chatting in Avela until you feel ready. You never owe anyone your number or socials.

  • Keep details private

Hold back your address, workplace and daily routine until you trust someone.

  • Meet in public

Pick a busy place, tell a friend where you’ll be, and arrange your own way home.

  • Never send money

Anyone asking for money, gift cards or crypto should be reported, however good the story.

  • Consent, every time

Yes to one thing isn’t yes to everything, and anyone can change their mind. Leave if it feels wrong.

Photo verification

A short selfie check shows people your photos are really you.

How it works
You take three selfies in poses the app asks for, such as turning your head or smiling. We compare them with your approved profile photos.
What the badge means
Your selfies matched your photos. It isn’t an identity, age or background check.
What we keep
The selfies are deleted once we’ve decided. We keep the result and when it happened.
Your choice
Verification is optional and needs your consent each time. You can ask for messages only from verified people.

Report or block

Open someone’s profile or your chat, tap the menu and choose Report or Block.

Reports are private
The person you report isn’t told it was you.
People review every report
Our team looks at each one and can suspend accounts that break the rules. We let you know once it’s reviewed.
Block hides you both
You won’t see each other anywhere on Avela, and any match ends. They aren’t notified.
Unmatch any time
It ends the match and removes the conversation for both of you.
Illegal content
Choose “Illegal content (EU Digital Services Act)” to tell us which law you think it breaks.

Your privacy controls

In the app under Settings, then Privacy.

  • Pause your profile

Turn off Show me in Discover. New people stop seeing you; your chats continue.

  • Hide what you like

Distance, age, gender, orientation and activity status each have their own switch.

  • Block contacts

Avoid people you know. Numbers are turned into codes on your phone; your contact list is never uploaded.

  • Incognito

With a membership, only people you’ve liked can see you.
